As September comes to a close, so does the first half of our first semester. The seasons are changing, the temperatures are dropping, and the holidays are sneaking up on us. The seasons, however, are not the only thing sneaking up on us. The so dreaded mid-terms are sneaking up, too . They are like a terrible sneak peak of what finals week will be like, and just like finals, we are never ready. The teachers start to slam down the test dates, and with each new date is a new layer of stress.
Now, I know what you are thinking; you won't have any time to take breaks while studying. However, there is a point in the studying process when literally none of the material is latching on, and you are making no progress. Sometimes you need a break to recoup and come back with a fresh mindset. But, that is not all. That added stress can really hinder not only how you study and perform on the exams, but also your overall health as well. So, here are a few tips on how to relieve some of that stress so that you can focus on those mid-terms, and make sure your well being doesn't suffer in the process.
1. Workout
Take a break from studying to take a small jog or lift some weights. Not only will it give you more energy to hit the books, but you will feel amazing afterwards!
2. Yoga
Although this is a form of exercising, it deserved its own special spot on the list because it's a great form of meditation that will clear your body and mind. No more fog; no more distractions.
3. Cook
This is so important. You can't live off of Taco Bell for the rest of your life, and at this point in time, you need all of the energy and brain power that you can get. This will give you a break to recoup and also give you a great meal to focus your mind and your appetite.
4. Take A Bath
If you are like me, you prefer a bath over anything. Just run a nice hot bath, throw a couple of bath bombs in, and let the stress melt away.
5. Clean
Cleaning your room is one of the best forms of meditation. If you are having a little bit of study trouble, take a break to clean your room. All of the clutter removed from your environment can help you focus on your notes.
6. Sleep, Sleep, Sleep!
Sleep is the best remedy for almost anything and everything. Take a little 30 minute nap to get you energized, healthy, and ready to take on anything your professors throw at you.
Exams will always suck, and when you put them all on top of each other, you get your own personal hell. However, we got this! We can make it through the worst with studying and some of these tips. Study hard and stay healthy.
