Stress is something that is going to strike us all eventually. If you are lucky, you will be dealing with it for a brief period. However, unfortunately, many of us are dealing with stress on an almost constant basis. You only have to look at a list of the most stressed states to see that the number of people dealing with chronic stress is rising.

While we cannot promise you that we will be able to eliminate your stress, the following tips really will help.

Exercise

Study after study has shown that those who get out there and exercise tend to have far lower stress levels. This is because exercise releases a ton of chemicals in your body. These chemicals are endorphins. They boost your happiness levels and lower your stress.

You don't even need to do a ton of exercise. While some people will head out whenever they feel the onset of stress, for most, just 30-minutes of a brisk walk per day will keep most of it at bay.

Eat Well

Unhealthy foods are known to increase stress levels. Not only is this something that could lead to obesity, but if you load up your diet with all sorts of unhealthy food, there is a strong chance that you will end up suffering from a nutritional deficiency.

Try to eat a balanced diet. We know it may seem a bit cliche, but you need to ensure that you are getting your five a day.

Socialize

Humans thrive on social interaction; once again, countless studies have shown that socialization can reduce stress levels. So, try and talk to people more. You don't have to do it in person. However, a brief chat over the phone every so often certainly wouldn't go amiss.

It is no secret that stress levels in the USA rose during the COVID-19 pandemic, and this is because most people were not able to socialize in the same way. Well, that and the fact that they were cooped up all day with a disease floating about outside. However, the lack of social interaction certainly didn't help most people. In fact, for the vast majority, the low social interaction was their biggest complaint.

Try To Laugh More

Again, studies have shown laughing can help to relieve stress. This is because laughing will increase the number of endorphins in your body, much as exercise will.

Why not sit back, relax, and watch your favorite comedy show or movie on a particularly stressful day? A good chuckle may end up setting you on the right path!

Meditate (or Try Yoga)

Again, it is another cliche, but it does work.

A spot of meditation or yoga every so often can be an excellent opportunity to combat those stress-related blues.

Meditate for at least a little time each day. It is excellent before you head to bed as it will allow you to get into a perfect state of relaxation before you sleep.

Yoga can be an excellent substitute for exercise. it isn't as relaxing as yoga, but you will certainly feel great when you wrap up a good yoga session. Don't worry if you need to learn how to dive into yoga. You will find plenty of YouTube videos out there.

Get Enough Sleep

Finally, make sure that you are getting enough sleep. In this ever-busy world, many people are dealing with stress simply because they are exhausted. Most people will need to sleep at least 8 hours per night. You may have a slightly different timing, though. Sleep until you feel refreshed.

If you don't sleep, then your brain doesn't really get an opportunity to 'relax', so it is no wonder you will be dealing with super-high stress levels.

Conclusion

Reducing your stress levels is essential. The world is getting ever more stressful, and everybody needs to do their part to reduce stress. Just 30-minutes of exercise per day, and you can reduce your stress levels by a whopping amount.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
