So you've put off an assignment until the last possible minute, or you've found out that you have done an entire paper wrong. What do you do? Here are some easy tips to pull an all night in college.
1. CAFFEINE UP
When it comes to staying up all night and easy go-to is coffee, energy drinks, or a 5-hour energy shot. Use this wisely, though. If you buy an energy drink, be aware that you might crash and need more than one to make it through the night. The bad side of coffee, well if you eat anything with it, you'll be spending time in the bathroom instead of on your project or paper.
2. CHEW GUM
It may not seem like it'll work but it does. Get a long lasting minty gum. Also chewing it may help you focus more on your assignment.
3. DON'T LOOK AT THE CLOCK
Doing that will make you realize how late it is and could make you sleepy. It's okay to make a quick glance here and there but don't let that tiredness sink in.
4. WALK AROUND
This will help wake you up and get you away from the spot you've been in for hours. It will get your blood flowing and help you refocus. Also doing push ups or sit ups could help as well.
5. MUSIC
If you have a roommate it may a little more difficult but loud music will help keep you awake. Also, try music that will help you work to keep you from possible distractions. Upbeat and fast pace music would be the best choice. Slower songs may put you to sleep.
6. SUGARY FOODS
Similar to caffeine, this can wake you up. But just like energy drinks, you must have a backup plan because when that sugar rush dies, you have a great chance of falling a sleep.
7. SET A GOAL
If you can only think about sleep, motivate yourself by thinking about the sleep you are going to get once you finish the project or paper. BUT STAY AWAKE. Resting your head for a minute can lead to sleeping during those hours then you need to finish the paper.
8. MOTIVATION
There is a good possibility that if you don't finish the assignment, you will fail the course. If that doesn't motivate you a little bit, I don't know what will.
