Who procrastinates? According to Dictionary.com, to procrastinate means, “to defer action; delay” or “to put off till another day or time; defer; delay.” Therefore, if you procrastinate you are someone who delays or puts off an action that needs doing now for later. What procrastination causes, in the long run, is stress. For example, if you had to write a paper that was due in one month’s time and you procrastinated you would have to write the paper in less than one week and most times just 24 hours. Just writing this causes my heart to race. If you procrastinate you only focus on getting the job done, which happens haphazardly. The quality of whatever you do will diminish because you will not have enough time to do what you need to do like proof-reading, summarizing, or organizing your work properly. Imagine writing a twenty-page research paper in 24 hours. That is nail-biting, bladder-popping madness if you ask me!
People who do not procrastinate are more relaxed. Those who start their projects early get time to organize, spread out tasks over a longer period, which diminishes stress, and get the job done in a timely fashion. People who do not procrastinate focus on not just getting the job done, but ensuring that the quality of work submitted is of a high standard. They have time to hang out, go to the beach, or read a book without having to worry about any delayed work. The magic of not procrastinating is in time management. Additionally, you will get more work done if you manage your time properly. Manage your time and you will always have time to manage!
So the choice is yours. Do you want to procrastinate and have a stressful day or do you want to not procrastinate and do something you enjoy? A person who procrastinates is usually under a lot of pressure and suffers high stress. Stress can lead to a number of diseases. These diseases can include stroke, high blood pressure, and God knows.
