Classes are winding down, campus is becoming a ghost town, and exams are finally coming to an end. All of your "school friends" are returning home and you realize that you don't have a thing planned. Here are a couple of ways to ensure that you plan a kick a$$ summer!

1. Get A Job

I hate to be that person that sounds like your parents, but unless you have a huge sum of money lying around your summer will be pretty bleak without it. Jobs are a great way to save a little extra cash for the upcoming school year so that you wont be stressing out (as much) and they are also a great way to fund whatever plans you decide to make.

2. Cross A Few Things Off Your Bucket List Around The Area

Just because you may have lived in the same place your whole life doesn't mean that you've seen it all. I'm someone that has that mindset and you'll notice that there are more possibilities available to you as you age.

3. Take Some Time For Yourself

While you're in the heat of the semester there are often times where you go and go and go and never really have any time to yourself. Coming home of the summer opens up a whole new can of worms in that situation. People that you haven't seen in a year want to hang out and it's OK to say no to have a time you time.

4. Get a Tan

~USE SUN SCREEN~ Getting tan is a great feeling, it boosts confidence and the vitamin D is actually great for you body and mind. However, getting extra crispy is no fun and can lead to a lot of issues down the road, remember to just be smart.

5. Travel

A lot of people avoid this because they think that it's too expensive or that they don't have anyone to go with. Travel has actually become more affordable over the years and with Groupons for trips and Airbnb's all over the world, it's super easy to see what is out there. And if you decide that you want to get away and don't know where - try to visit some college friends in their hometown. It's not only a great way to see another part of the country but it allows you to understand where that person comes from.

Just remember that summer is a time to unwind and recollect. Take advantage of every sunny day.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
