It's very common for students in college to get wrapped up in two things: our social life, and our academic life. Sometimes, one can take over the other, resulting in an unhappy student with either outcome. If your social life has begun to reign over your academic life, here are some tips to stay on track this semester, and pass with grades you'd gladly boast to your parents about over Christmas dinner.

1. Keep yourself motivated.

Giphy

Set a goal if you already haven't, and stick to it. When you feel yourself getting into that mid semester slump, remind yourself why you're doing this, and it's almost a guarantee to keep you motivated.

2. Make a friend in every one of your classes.

Giphy

If you have one dependable (keyword dependable) you can rely on in every single one of your classes, you'll automatically be set for the semester. You'll have a study buddy, a person you can ask questions to, and if you miss a class for an illness (or some other reason...), you have someone that will catch you up to speed on what you missed.

3. Keep in contact with your professors.

Giphy

As much as you've probably already heard, keeping in contact with your professors and forming a relationship with them outside of your 200 person lecture will aid tremendously in your grade increasing. If your professor puts a name to the face, he/she will know how dedicated you are to your grade in the class.

4. Don't procrastinate.

Giphy

Dear God, please do not follow the, "if tomorrow isn't the due date, then today isn't the do date" rule. You will automatically be nearly guaranteed an unsatisfactory grade. Keep your priorities in check and make sure you are doing everything on time.

5. GET SLEEP!

Giphy

I cannot stress this enough. If you do not get a full night's rest, you will not be able to focus on your class the following day, which will leave you falling behind in certain classes. Ever wonder why you have a C in your 8 am but a A+ in your 2 pm? Exactly.

6. Take care of your mental health.

Giphy

Your mental health is just as important as any class you have. If your mental health is not in check, your mind will not be prepared to work towards the goal you've set for yourself. Make sure you're taking time off for yourself. Go ahead, catch up on the third season of Pretty Little Liars.

If you follow all of these tips throughout the semester, the grade you deserve will come your way. It takes time to achieve what you want, but when you do, it sure does feel amazing.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
