This is a response to Networking Tips For Beginners.

If there are a couple of things that I've learned from my post grad years, I would have to say work experience and networking are essential to become successful in life. More so than just having a college degree alone. From my experiences alone, what made me stand out the most was not because of my degrees that I've earned, it was my work experiences and what I can offer to the table that matter.

Nowadays, when I see job postings, there's more of a stronger emphasis on work experience. Especially when entry level jobs are asking for five years of experience already for recent grads. In the back of my head, I was like, "Why is it like this and how am I supposed to get experience if I don't have previous experience already?" What really surprised me is that some companies won't consider your minimal wage job experience, internship experience, or extracurricular activities experience count as actual work experience, which is really disheartening. So what's the solution you may ask? Well one, you need to know someone, especially the hiring manager to get the job, and also, work a job that relates to your career field either part-time or full-time. Both things combine can increase your chances to get your foot in the door. As for the second part I mention about working a job that relates to your career field, you would need to get out there and network a lot and not just apply online. I've noticed more and more students nowadays either work part or full-time while attending college online, which saves them a lot of money. This is the reality of wha's happening nowadays in a competitive economy.

You don't have to network only in person. You can also network online, especially through social media. I found many opportunities through social media since I never gave up and kept looking and connecting with like minded people like myself. That's how I got into pageants, activism, modeling, and content creation in the first place. Not only that, I've noticed some people utilized LinkedIn and Tik Tok to promote themselves on what they can offer and the work they do. In a world of social media, you have to put yourself out there to get noticed, regardless of people's opinions.

Moral of the story, you have to network and work jobs that relate to your career goals. Having special projects you created yourself is a plus. If you do these things, then you will succeed more.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
