Since school started, we all have to get back to our routine. It's hard. Some of us didn't have a busy schedule during the summer and now it's so weird to go back to a routine. I worked during the summer and I had my regular routine. I thought it will be easy to just continue my routine but I was wrong. It's actually very difficult to manage my time between school, work, family, social life, and most importantly personal time.

I haven't able to have alone time in so long. I think it's so important to have that personal time to do whatever you want. For me, I just want to read all day or most of the time, I watch Netflix all day and eat on my bed. It's a luxury to me and I can't afford that anymore once school has started. So I tried to figure out a way to manage it.

Time management is key because it's an aspect of our lives and if you don't have it down by the time you're in college, you're screwed. College is a commitment. It takes up a lot of time even if it's just one assignment. I tried
my best to manage my time and here are a few tips that I picked up so far.

1. Always Know What's Coming Up During This Week.
If you have no clue what's going on, whether it's academics or work schedule, it will be very difficult to manage your time. If you know, it will be easy to plan ahead.

2. Planning Ahead
It's so important to schedule out the stuff you have to do during the week. Don't plan too far ahead. Just plan for every tomorrow if you can. Just have a main idea on what you need to do throughout the week.

3. Write It Down
All of us forget and it's okay. That's why there're some things called planner and notebooks. You can also put it in your phone to remind yourself. What I normally do is, I list all the stuff I need to do for this week and I make a checklist.

4. Avoid Procrastination
I am the queen of procrastination, especially in high school. However, college is a completely different game and I was dethroned. I actually put the time and effort into my work nowadays and I get better results out of it. It takes away so much stress and anxiety too.

5. Having Personal Time
It's so important to have that alone time where you can do whatever you want. After a long and exhausting day, I need some "me-time." I usually make "me-time" at night, like an hour or two before I sleep. I try to make my weekends my personal time too.

I work three days a week and I go to school four days a week. Between work and school, my weekdays are packed. I have to prioritize and put my social calendar on the weekends or at least, evening or nighttime if it's during the weekdays. Remember, it's okay to say no if you don't want to go. It's so important to rest and have that beauty sleep especially if you have work on Saturday morning. I'm not an expert but I hope these tips help.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
