After a (hopefully) relaxing Winter Break, getting into the swing of second semester can be difficult (specifically, getting yourself to go to class rather than go out and see your friends, because that’s the easy part). But being caught up in the mumble jumble of it all, sometimes you just need a good ole smile. Luckily, it’s pretty easy.
1. Go through old pictures
Places you’ve been, people you’ve met, adventures, late nights, family selfies: the list goes on, just like the memories.
2. Eat a warm cookie
I mean, come on, what’s better than that?
3. Have a dance party
I prefer with my roommate, but solo is just as fun.
4. Think of how accomplished you are
Think of the things your parents brag about you for. Reading this? You’re smarter than others in the world!
5. Take a hot shower or bath
The best way to de-stress and calm yourself. Then smile because you can.
6. Call your grandma. Call your significant other. Call your sibling.
Sometimes just hearing their voice will make you smile (especially if you tell them you miss them).
7. Be artistic
Color a picture, paint a portrait, express yourself. Then smile at the work you made.
8. Tell your best friend how much they mean to you.
Crying welcomed, but not necessary.
9. Buy someone's meal
Sometimes the best way to make yourself smile is to make someone else smile.
10. Go to Church
Or just sit in a chapel or a quiet place. Think about how much God loves you. Don’t ever forget that Jesus died for YOU. How can you not smile?
11. Compliment a stranger
Because why not? They’ll smile and you’ll probably never see them again. Win/win situation.
12. Look at nature
Look at this beautiful place we call home. There is artwork all around us; we are part of a beautiful masterpiece.
13. Watch a Disney movie
Be a little kid again. Eat popcorn, drink hot chocolate (with marshmallows), and laugh at the songs you still know every word to.
14. Look at yourself in the mirror
You are beautiful. You are successful. You are You. Smile.
