How To Make A Great First Impression?

In This Article:

.

Many times in life, we do hear about the term' first impression'. It is the mirror image of your all-over personality that a person takes from meeting you for the first time. A good first impression opens the gate for further communication, interaction, and relationship building. There are a few basic things that you need to follow while meeting someone for the first time, and you will leave a good lasting impression.

Eye Contact Is Important: It is the most basic and the most effective thing to keep in mind if you want to make a lasting first impression. While interacting with the person, you should have balanced eye contact throughout the conversation so that person can feel that you are interested in his/her talks. It conveys that you are attentive and a listener and lets the person feel respected. Make sure that you don't overdo it, or don't stare at the person with a blunt face. Talk through your expression.

Greet With Flowers: Offering flowers always show that you are happy to meet the person and also talks about your class. Whether you are up for a business meeting or joining a new office, or going on your first date, always greet the person with lovely bouquet flowers. It also gives you an upper hand over the conversation and also acts as an ice-breaker. You do need to be attentive to what type of flowers you pick because different flowers signify different emotions.

A Decent Smile: You can't be pale-faced while meeting someone for the first time. Always wear a decent smile on your face that talks about your excitement. A smile makes other people feel good and helps them in connecting with you at ease. A genuine smile that comes from the deep of your heart helps in building trust and makes an impression of your sincerity. Do not fake your smile, and don't smile way too much so that it doesn't look weird.

Personal Grooming: Your haircut, hair style, nails, skin quality, fragrance, fresh mouth, and other such things are way too crucial than you think. Little to the little aspect that falls in personal grooming gets noticed when you meet someone for the first time. And if you don't put some effort into personal grooming, then you won't be able to make a good lasting impression. While personal grooming enhances your personality by many folds, it gives you confidence, too, which helps in steering the conversation quite well.

Be The Real You: Now, before we march ahead on this one, let us clarify that being real doesn't mean you start acting as you do with your best friends. You should not fake things you do, or you own and do not agree with the person in front of something if you don't think so. But yes, make sure to find a sweet and polite way to disagree. Talk in the language that you both are comfortable in or the language that everyone uses there.

Establish Good Communication: A bad conversation can ruin the experience, and that's what you need to know about good English communication. And to be a good communicator, you should learn to hear first. If you listen with care, then you can communicate more celery on the topics. Your communication with other people should have a good first impression. Experts suggest that people always remember what you make them feel, not what you say to them.

Don't Leave Anything For Last Minute: One should look after and be ready a day before the meeting and should not leave anything for the last minute. The attire should be finalised after a trial. The grooming should be done well in advance. Order Online flowers for the day instead of looking for a florist on the day of the meeting. For a business meeting, you can prepare yourself by perfecting your greeting gesture in front of a mirror.

Act Confidently: The awkwardness should not be there for more than a few minutes. You should be interacting with the person confidently but not over-confidently. From your body language to your words, there should be confidence. It depicts your self-assurance and helps in creating a good first impression.

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major.
