As summer begins, it is quite hard to maintain a healthy lifestyle, while all you probably can think about is all the food you are going to devour. Being someone thats on the go all the time, I fall into the habit of constantly stopping at food joints for a quick bite to eat. Not only that, but I find myself being even more lazy during the summer since I have all the time in the world now since the semester ended.

Let's just say, my workout game is not on point right now. Lets be real, if I could, I would eat sushi every single night for dinner, however,I cannot let me body get too unhealthy during this summer break. Therefore, here are some tricks on how to maintain a healthy lifestyle during this summer.


Limit yourself to one cheat meal a week.

It is extremely easy to fall into the habit of eating out every night, so try eating a cheat meal at least once a week, such as on a Friday or a Saturday where you know you will probably be going out to eat.

Find some time during your day to exercise.

It doesn't have to be a three hour workout, but walking a mile or two a day or doing some yoga will you keep you right on track to feeling healthy

Don't fall into the habit of constantly laying down.

Sometimes after work, I just feel like laying in my bed for the rest of the day, but I find that my body is more energetic when I'm not constantly laying down.

Choose healthier snack options.

Where's all my popcorn lovers at? As part of your daily routine, its important to have a snack in between meals, so instead of eating that bag of chips, try something more healthy such as fruit or nuts.

Be active with friends, family, etc.

I always find walking or running more enjoyable when I have a friend or family member by my side. It keeps me more motivated.

Prep meals for work the previous night or morning of.

A lot of times when I'm working, I'll either stop for food before or after I have it. I always feel like I never have enough time to make a meal for myself. Most of the time, I do this when I'm coming to work straight from school. It's important to prep meals the previous night or morning of so you will not feel the need to stop for food constantly.

Drink lots and lots of water!

Waters so important to have in order to maintain a healthy body, especially in the scorching heat. Keep yourself hydrated as much as you can.

Even though summer is a time to be active, I find myself shying away from keeping myself healthy, but utilizing these tips is always important so that I will not let myself go by the time I get back to school. I hope these tips will help you as much as they have helped me in the past and more so, this summer!
