You open your eyes slowly as the light comes in. You feel so well rested, absolutely ready to start the day.

Except for the fact that you missed your alarm and now you're late.

All ideas of looking cute instantly fly out the door. Sadly you glance over at your closet full of t-shirts and yoga pants and figure out if you have any time to get ready at all.

I’m here to tell you that looking presentable doesn’t have to be a chore. There is beauty in simplicity and even though you may be short on time, you don’t have to sacrifice your appearance.

For Work

When it comes to work, looking presentable is a must. Now, that doesn’t mean you need to look incredibly fancy and dolled up (though you can if you want to and have time). It just means you shouldn’t look like you just rolled out of bed, even if you did.

Grab a pair of dress pants. Any color you have will work, black is always a safe choice. Grab any type of sweater you have and a solid shirt for underneath. To dress it up, throw on a nice necklace and heels and you’re good to go. At this point, you could even put your hair up in a quick bun if need be and it will look like you did that on purpose.

If you want an even easier option, grab a pencil skirt. Pair it with a blouse for instant class. Two pieces later and you look ready to take on the world. If you want you can dress it up more with accessories.

For School

Now for school, it isn’t as necessary to look put together (can I get an amen from my 8:00 a.m. homies!!) but nonetheless we all feel a bit better when we look more put together. Personally, I don’t feel motivated in the slightest with sweatpants on. It doesn’t take a whole lot to look like you 4.0’d the course of life, even if you didn’t).

Start out with a pair of jeans. It doesn’t matter the color, jeans are already more presentable than yoga pants or sweats. Pair it with a nicer shirt, it doesn’t have to be too fancy, just something other than a t-shirt. Layer it with a jacket or cardigan and then accessories can do the rest.

If you want something even easier a dress is the easiest go-to. Throw on a dress and some cute shoes and you look ready to go. You can dress it up further later, but the hardest part is already done.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
