How To Look At Failure

Failure is not the end. Most people view it as means to give up, that they are not good enough at whatever they fail at. That statement is just incorrect. You can do anything you put your mind to. Nothing stands between you and success.

Failure is Inevitable

As humans, we hate this thought. We base success on perfection. We look at the failures on the way to success as setbacks and are embarrassed by them. It is crucial to cast away these thoughts. Failure is inevitable, everyone fails thousands of times in their life. Getting up from these failures, learning from them, and pushing forward are all means to success.

Failure is a Step Towards Success

Failure is not a step back. Failure is a lunge forward. Like everything you know, you know what it is and what it is not. Look at failure the same way. To know what success is and how to obtain it we must know what it is not. It is just like solving a math problem; when you go through all the steps of the problem and come out with a wrong answer, you don’t just give up. You look back at your work and look what you have done wrong, learn from it and try the problem a different way. That is what failure is, a learning experience to find out what success is not, to point you closer and towards success.

Failure Shows Your True Strength

Failure may be a leap towards success, but that does not mean that it is not frustrating. Failure is one of the most frustrating aspects of life. We must keep in mind that we are all distinct, diverse, and not one of us thinks or acts exactly the same way. We all learn differently, and it takes us all a different amount of time to learn. That being said, strength is how many times you get up after being knocked down by failure. It may take you three tries or ten tries to reach success. Even if you are knocked down one hundred times, you continue reaching for success. Not only will the satisfaction of success be more rewarding, but think of how much you will have learned all those hundred tries.

As a society and individuals, we must stop thinking that failure is bad and is the means of unsuccessful people. Failure is the ultimate teacher, it teaches us determination, strength, how to learn more fluently, and most of all success.

As one of the best writers of all time JK Rowling says “It is impossible to live without failing at something, unless you live so cautiously that you might as well have not lived at all, in which case you have failed by default.”

10 Signs You Work In A Restaurant

There's always chaos in the restaurant business.

10 Signs You Work In A Restaurant
Brisanis

Working in the restaurant industry is possibly the most fundamentally challenging occupation I have ever experienced when it comes to hospitality and customer service. When you go to a five-star restaurant you expect the time of your life, a two hour getaway, a walk through another time period (rustic Italy, France, Spain, etc), or simply a honeymoon undergo. What you don't see are the behind the scenes scut work: carrying trays, polishing glassware and silverware, kitchen chaos, the list is endless. Now, I'm not saying being a host, server, or bartender is the worst thing in the whole wide world, there are definitely worse things. But the fact of the matter is that it isn't always sunshine and rainbows. In the two years that I have spent in restaurant and customer service, I have spoken my share of expletives, yelled at kitchen staff, and dealt with not-so-happy guests. It isn't easy to keep a bright and shiny smile on your face when all you want to do is choke every person who walks near you. Anyone who has spent even two weeks working in a restaurant understands the rigor and stress that comes with it. Restaurant culture is a tiny world in and of itself that operates on its own principles and creates its own society. It even has its own language. The sayings "runner", "corner", and "on a bus" wouldn't make sense to anyone otherwise. My mother and I both work in a restaurant and the best advice I can give someone going out to eat is to treat us like people. Yes...believe it or not we are people, people. Say "please" and "thank you", or stack your cleared plates before a busser gets to the table. Trust me, the gesture goes a lot farther than you may think.

So, if you work in a restaurant, you can relate with the following points. If not, check out how the brain of a restaurant service (or any customer service) worker actually works. See if you can identify any crazy weird habits your friends have a tendency to partake in.

One of the scariest things we will ever face in our life is going to college. Many of us move away to a new town, join new organizations, and make new friends. We are expected to study, have a social life, relationships, maybe work, and be healthy. It seems pretty easy to do, and in high school all we wanted to do was graduate and move on to this next chapter of our lives. If you are in high school, here are some things that you can learn from before you get to college. If you have already been through your freshman year of college, hopefully you can relate to the things I have learned in college.
