Living A Well-Balanced Life Is SO Doable, You Just Need To Put In The Work

Doing well in school, working, having a social life, and getting plenty of sleep may sound impossible, but I assure you that it is easily attainable.

What if I told you it isn't that hard to have all those things? Well, I do and it isn't as difficult as it sounds. I work full time, take a full time course load at school get plenty of sleep each night, and still have time for friends. Everyone has different things that work best for them, and it's up to you to find those things.

Time management is definitely one of the most important things when balancing everything in life. I make sure I spend down time during the day working on homework. Even though 30 minutes doesn't sound like much time to get work done, you'd be surprised how big of a difference it makes by utilizing your time that way. Of course it's totally okay to relax at times, but it's also important to make the best use of your time.

You must figure out what is more important to you and what is not as important. Prioritizing is critical in every aspect of life. Instead of making such an effort to see every single person you talk to, step back and see who would be there for you. Some people fear a small circle, but it's better to have fewer, high quality friends who will be worth your time and effort. Prioritizing is also important when it comes to school work. Obviously all your work has to get done, but if you're stressed about the test you have in a few days, focus more on that and complete your other work after the test if you are able to hold it off.

I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to take time for yourself. If you are constantly working all the time and do not stop, you will likely wear yourself out and will not have motivation to do anything. I personally like taking evenings to myself. I will cook myself dinner, kick back, and watch some TV before bed. Winding down after a long day is super important in order to fully recover for the next day. You just have to find the best way for you to destress and make sure to fit it into your schedule.

These are just a few tips that help me live a well-balanced life. Everyone works differently and needs different things, so take the advice with a grain of salt. But I do hope these help you to feel like a well-balanced life is more attainable.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
