How To Know You're The Mom Of The Friend Group

Every friend group has its designated mom. We know them, we love them, and we can't live without them. What would the squad be without that one slightly responsible friend to try to keep everyone's lives together? If you're sitting here thinking that your friend group doesn't have a mom, you may want to consider that you are the mom. Being the mom isn't a bad thing, it just means you care deeply about your friends. You're the one they can't live without and, at the end of the day, you can't live without them. Here are a few tips and tricks to find out whether you are the mom of the friend group.

1. You always have snacks for the whole squad.

Whether you're studying at the library, spending a day at the beach or getting ready for a night out, you're set to provide your group with the energy they need to keep going.

2. You also always have water with you.

Hydration is key!

3. You are always fully stocked with band-aids and Advil.

You're basically a walking first-aid kit.

4. You pick your friends up when they're down (literally and figuratively).

If one person's down, you all are.

5. You're the personal chauffeur of the friend group.

Someone's got to do all this driving!

6. You give advice to your friends and often enjoy doing so.

You've found yourself second-guessing your major. Maybe you should become a psychologist?

7. You defend your friends with your life.

They have to get through you first!

8. You're usually the one to break up any fights.

It can be tough to be the mediator but someone has to keep the group together!

9. You try to be the responsible one and discipline your friends.

If they actually listen is a whole other story.

10. But sometimes it can be like the blind leading the blind.

You're just experienced as they are, after all.

11. You always have an open shoulder to cry on.

Or two when situation gets rough.

12. You're the squad's biggest supporter and personal photographer.

People might not believe you were there that night but it's because you were just behind the camera!

13. You always get your friends home safe after a night out.

You can't sleep until everyone texts you they're OK.

14. At the end of the day you wouldn't have it any other way.

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
