We all know that bandwagon fans exist, usually right around time for a big game. They are created equally throughout all sports. Unfortunately, sometimes you might find yourself in a position that causes you to ask yourself, "Am I a bandwagon fan??" Now to be fair, everyone starts out as a bandwagon fan but it's your loyalty that you show to the team that dictates if you are truly a fan or another fair-weather fan.
Luckily for you, I have put together a list of five questions you should ask yourself if you believe you could possibly be a band-wagoner.
1. Do you have a new found appreciation for (enter sport here)?
Maybe we can thank uncle Tom for bringing you onto your new favorite sport to watch but if not, and you've only begun watching because of you're new favorite team....odds are, you're probably a bandwagon fan.
2. Did you purchase new fan gear after a winning season?
If you're a loyal fan whose support goes back further than the most recent season, you could possibly be updating your fan apparel. BUT, if you find yourself surfing the team's website to find the newest sweatshirts to show your buddies you're in the game too, then you're probably a bandwagon.
3. Can you name anyone on the team besides the star players?
Chances are if you cannot name at least five players from your favorite team excluding the spotlight players(all sports included), you're probably a bandwagon fan.
4. Can you recall historical stats for the team dating back to past years?
If you can't name that monumental moment in your team's history(the one all the fans know by heart), you're probably a bandwagon fan.
5. Do you support all of the teams as long as they are winning?
If you have chosen not to settle on sharing your loyalty with just one team but all the best teams that make up the sport, you're probably a bandwagon fan!
Hopefully, for your sake, you've discovered that your heart lies with one team that you've supported for years and years or will support for years and years to come. However, if you have come to the conclusion that you are, in fact, a bandwagon fan, then you should probably stay away from those very intense sports conversations that always end by challenging each other's loyalty to your favorite team.
