With the end of the holiday season and 2017 rapidly coming to a close, it is time for everyone to make resolutions and plans to better themselves in the upcoming new year. You can expect most, if not all of your social media feeds to be filled with posts and captions with phrases such as “new year, new me,” and “12 new chapters, 365 new chances.” However, though people have the highest hopes and aspirations to change themselves for the better during the upcoming year, most of them do not end up succeeding.
In many cases, people spend the first few weeks of the New Year trying to lose weight, or learn how to cook or achieve whatever goal they so desire. Unfortunately, after a few weeks some people find their resolutions hard to stick to. Whether people have a hard time staying motivated, or put too much on their plates, there are many ways in which anyone can keep themselves on track.
It is very important for those with resolutions to choose an ultimate goal that they truly want for the betterment of themselves and that is realistically attainable. If somebody is truly determined to stick to their said objectives, it is best to be specific and clear about what exactly they want to accomplish. When one is specific and detailed about their hopes and dreams for 2018, then it will be more likely for one to be prone to stay determined and motivated.
For instance, instead of being all talk and no action about going on that new diet or spending more time at the library, one should be sure to set short-term goals to start with and long -term goals to work up to. Setting a goal, whether it be short term or long term, and a deadline to reach that goal by is an organized way to stay on track to keeping any New Years resolution.
Needless to say, any resolution that changes one for the better, and does no harm is a very good one. However, why should everybody conform to achieving the few goals that society tells them to? Why would someone be motivated to stick to the same resolutions that they have been prone to breaking year after year? Before the end of 2017, people should take the time to brainstorm resolutions in which are unique to them and their current situations so they are both more beneficial and easier to keep.
Remember, the more specific the ideas throughout this brainstorming process, the closer one can be to successfully keeping their resolutions. If needed, putting a pen to paper to jot down random ideas is a great way to get people’s minds racing.
Considering the endless possibilities out there, there is nothing standing between who people are and who they want to be. Nobody should stay limited to the basic, overdone resolutions. It is time for everyone to make 2018 the year in which people keep their resolutions and success is prevalent. Happy New Year!
