This past weekend I experienced the biggest tease of MY LIFE! My first ever collegiate fall "break" consisted of a long weekend with an October Friday included. I was however grateful that I left campus and Waco all together and experience a whole new world. After finishing all homework that was due Monday I met up with some friends and we headed out to Austin for one of the best trips I've ever had.
If you need some ideas on how to Keep Austin Weird don't worry you've come to the right place.
Voodoo Doughnuts
"Best Things come in pink boxes" It's fairly new to the popular Sixth Street downtown area but the line greets you at the door because their doughnuts are larger than your face but you eat them like they're munchkins from Dunkin.
South Congress
Shopping. Food. And Perfect Instagram aesthetic galore! Confession time I haven't been here yet but several of my friends have and they nothing but praise for the neighborhood that lies just outside of the downtown area.
Hope Outdoor Gallery (Graffiti Park)
Are you afraid or loose rocks and getting your nails dirty with spray paint cans? If you said yes to both then GO if you said no to both then REALLY GO and if you said yes to one and not the other then PACK YOUR BAGS! Hope has something for everyone. It's a great chance to take in all of the culture and express yourself freely. My favorite part was meeting so many new people from all over that just come to the park to express what's in their mind.
Thrifting
Thrift shops are ALWAYS the move whether it's a Tuesday and you cleared everything off your checklist or if you're in Austin for a Saturday. With Austin having a keen eye on all things creative their clothes vintage or contemporary reflect that. I got my new favorite pair of jean shorts for $2.92!!!!! It's the best time killer/excuse for a brand new wardrobe need I say more??
