How to improve Your Overall Fitness

Exercising is fun, a great way to build body strength and a fantastic stress reliever. However, it does not hurt to keep on reminding ourselves to keep improving fitness levels.

The main factors to remember when exercising is that your body will always perform best when you balance your capabilities, with a gradual and consistent growth of muscle strength and endurance. We will delve into some exercises which you will enjoy doing and watch your body transform in the most wonderful manner.

Types of exercises

There are two broad classifications of exercises; namely cardio and strength training. The type of activity you choose will largely depend on the goals that you have for your body. Cardio is an all-rounder and will help you achieve weight loss, improved fitness, building endurance, among other benefits.

Strength and weight exercises are usually more targeted and will focus on muscle groups or, limbs. Some people have seen benefits in their general health, and others have reported improvements for conditions such as osteoporosis which occurs as a result of calcium deficiency leading to bone loss.

  • Cardio with spin cycling

Spin cycling is a form of indoor cycling that is claiming its place in the exercising hall of fame. The stationary bikes come with different settings that give you authentic experiences. The bikes have tension settings that make you feel like you are navigating hills and other road stretches. The bikes have set milestones and entertainment that will keep you riding in synchronized tempo.

Bikes are fun, and by choosing one that is right for you, you will immediately see a change in your fitness levels. Bring your military buddies along and set up some friendly indoor competition.

  • Strength training with a rower

Strength training is a program that targets muscles. The muscles will bulk up, show definition and tone, gain mass, build muscular endurance and increase your strength. When you have a rower, you will be using the same group of muscles that a rower uses. Your legs and arms will provide the momentum, your back and torso will give the resistance, and as long as you set levers for your body size, you will be able to adjust the weights and resistance setting for bulking up, toning, endurance, whatever is your goal.

  • Weight control with barbells

Barbells are convenient because you can carry them with you if you travel and not lose one day of training. You will get more benefit out of the barbells by using them at the same time as your spin cycling. They are great for when you want to target different muscle groups and switch up your exercising routine.

Conclusion

Before you exercise, be clear about what your exercise goals are. Only then can you improve your fitness levels because you will be focusing on achieving a set goal.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
