Congratulations—you've (almost) survived another year. The holidays are the time to celebrate friends, family and unbelievable sales, and for some people the holiday season is perhaps one of the busiest. Celebrities and style stars begin to flood our social media pages with Instagram pictures of elite holiday dinners and vacations, not to mention flawless outfit execution, and it may leave some of us with a feeling of envy so strong it hurts. Luckily, it doesn’t have to.

Staying In

A night in can be just as glamorous as a night out on the town—with the right pieces. For a cozy appointment with the couch and a marathon of the classics, indulge in loungewear that is as chic as it is practical. Calvin Klein logo sweatpants or velvet joggers are a necessity for curling up by the fire. Urban Outfitter’s “Luxe Loungewear” edit is filled with silky camisoles and bodysuits, perfect for relaxation.

Going Out

If you’re a party girl like me, one of your favorite things to do during holiday break is to be seen. Flirty mini dresses with tights and sparkly jumpsuits paired with faux fur coats and cocktail jewelry are the holiday go-to’s for dressing up this season. Retailers are making it practically impossible not to splurge, like Zara’s “Disco Forest” Autumn/Winter 2016 studio collection filled with velvet, sequined dresses, and a pair of trousers that are to-die-for. Popular it-girl brand the Reformation has collaboration with Haim to create a New Year’s Eve collection of iconic satin slit dresses and jumpsuits that speak for themselves.

Traveling

If you’re one of the lucky people traveling over the holidays, classic pieces are crucial. To master airport style, make friends with frayed denim, Chelsea boots, and effortless fitted turtlenecks for an off-duty supermodel aesthetic that’s both simple and on-trend. Pair with a bomber jacket or long trench coat and a tote bag filled with all your flight essentials.

Public Desire, Darla Metallic Heel Ankle Boots in Nude Faux Suede, $52.99

Misguided, Grey Choker Neck Sweatshirt $39.60

Regardless of your holiday plans, there is no reason not to do them in style. Pour of glass of wine, put on your best look, and relax—you’ve earned it.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
