Summer is here, finally! Almost anybody you talk to will say it's their favorite season. I mean who doesn't like sunshine, oceans, boats, and cookouts? Another thing that makes summer so great is traveling. Going to new places and doing exciting things is one of the best parts! While a lot of people do travel, some do not, and even those that do aren't gone the whole summer. Below are some things you can do, if you have a stay-cation, which is a vacation in your town. A lot of times you can forget that there is so much you can do or maybe take your home town for granted. Ready to find out how to have the best stay-cation ever? Just keep reading!

1. Go to the beach or lake.

Nothing like soaking up some rays while laying on the beach listening to music or laying on the bank of a lake. Your essentials you will need are a towel, sunscreen, sunglasses, radio and water (always stay hydrated)!

2. Have a cookout.

Invite some of your closest friends over. Put some hamburgers/hot dogs on the grill and just hang out. The things you will need for this are a grill, your grilling food of choice and good music!

3. Have a summer movie night.

Have your BFFs over, pop some popcorn and watch movies that are centered around the summer. The things you will need for your movie night is a movie of choice, popcorn, large fluffy blankets and a comfy sofa.

4. Go to a concert.

There are so many artist touring right now so check Ticketmaster for the next concert coming to your town. It's a fun night out! There are not many essentials you need for this activity, mostly just the concert tickets!

5. Try a new sport.

This may sound funny, but trying a new sport is a good way to have fun and exercise. You can try swimming, tennis, karate, really just whatever you want. Your main essential is to research a sport and see where you can try it in your town!

6. Explore a new part of your town or city.

This is a inexpensive way to have fun. There is probably something you have not seen or done before. Or maybe there is something you have always wanted to do but have not had the time, now you can! Again, you will not need many essentials for this activity, mostly just a map.

There are so many other activities you can come up with; make a summer bucket list that coordinates with what you are going to do. You can find more ideas on Pinterest or Google. Maybe ask around (family and friends) to gain some ideas. Be open minded and try to do things outside of your comfort zone. Don't let this time pass you by, there is only one 2016 summer, make it the best one yet!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
