College can be a very stressful time, especially during finals, and especially when you get sick. Somehow, I've managed to get sick every semester during finals. Whether it's the flu or the stomach bug, or simple allergies, being sick while working through a two-hour exam and/or countless hours of homework and studying is the absolute worst. Here are some handy ways to handle the yuck that is being sick during finals season.
1. Prevention!
The best way to deal with being sick is to not get sick! Wash your hands thoroughly, take immunity boosters, avoid sharing drinks/utensils with people, stay away from questionable food. Just do anything you can to not be sick. You may look odd, but you won't be the person sniffling throughout the entire exam.
2. Take care of any symptoms as soon as possible
So you wound up getting sick. Now what? the key to recovery is quick action. Get yourself to your univeristy health services or a local clinic.
3. Rest whenever you can
I know it seems impossible, but do it. Set a schedule, get everything done at specific times and be sure to block off extra time for rest. If need be, ask for extensions on final projects. Professors can be super understanding, especially if there's something going around campus.
