What You Need To Hear

Adversity: noun : a difficult situation or condition : misfortune or tragedy : a state or instance of serious or continued difficulty or misfortune.

Everyone has a dream. A vision of how their life is going to play out. They have a picture in their mind of where they are going and what is going to happen. But all too quickly, we come to reality that life is not always how you are plan it out.

The truth is that everyone goes through hardships and rough patches in life. It's how you choose to react to them that takes you on a good or bad journey. You can either deal with the problem head on or try to run away from it. The choices you make today will push you into tomorrow. Go with a positive attitude and know you are important.

Everyone has gone through some type of loss in their life. Thousands of people each year are laid off from their jobs. One out of every two marriages ends in divorce. Every minute, 108 people die somewhere in the world. Everyone experiences loss. The main focus is that time will heal all. Surround yourself with love and life and tell yourself and believe that tomorrow will bring joy.

Loss doesn't always mean death. Loss can be losing a friendship, or breaking up with someone you thought was the one. Everything happens for a reason. Not everyone you meet will stay in your life, and vice versa. But the ones who do, are supposed to be there. People will try and bring you down simply because they want to bring themselves up. But no one can make you feel inferior without your consent. Never settle for second best because chances are that bigger and better is waiting right around the corner.

In sports, injuries are inevitable. Some are more serious than others but regardless the time that it takes to come back is an uphill battle. A good friend always told me injuries are just minor setbacks for an even bigger comeback. It starts with your thoughts. If you tell yourself you're going to get through it and keep pushing, you will achieve more than you imagined.

Some people hope that tomorrow will be better while others choose to let the world consume them. Some people fight their way back to their dream and never stop believing. Others use the pain they've experienced to help others along the way. It's people like these who overcome adversity. Because everyone will come across adversity, and everyone will get through it—it all depends on how fast you're willing to move on.

Now that Halloween is over, it's time to focus on the Holiday Season. Don't get me wrong, I think Thanksgiving is great and can't wait for it, but nothing gives me greater joy than watching Freeform's 25 Days of Christmas, lighting peppermint scented candles, decking the halls, and baking gingerbread cookies. So while we approach the greatest time of the year, let's watch the 15 best Christmas movies of all time.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
