1. Begin by denying that you ever liked them.

This step is essential. Once you begin ignoring the fact that your crush ever happened, you are on your way to absolute success. Making fun of yourself for it may also be helpful.

2. Think of all the things you don’t like about them.

Maybe they say a certain word weird or something along those lines. If you can find a “fatal flaw” in them, focus on that! (FYI: if you really like someone, this step could be extremely difficult.)

3. Start thinking about other options of crushes.

I am not telling you to use someone, but if you can find someone that you actually like, there is no harm in moving on to someone new!

4. Avoid them at all costs!

If you see them in the hall, take another route. If you see them at the store, leave. Never ever let yourself have a one on one conversation with them because this will mean that you could restart liking hi

5. Eat ice cream and watch movies.

Even though it isn’t “technically” a break up, you’re allowed to be sad and have your time to mourn the loss of this make believe relationship. (Note: if you surpass 3 gallons of ice cream, you’re never getting over it.)

6. Go out and find something to distract you!

Join a new club or get a new hobby. It sounds pretty lame, but finding something new to focus on really can help take your mind off what could have been.

7. Have a relapse.

We’re all bound to make mistakes, so don’t get discouraged if you see them somewhere, and begin liking them again. Just try to remind yourself of the six previous steps.

This article is not for the Almost Short Friends, i.e. the 5'3" and 5'4" Friends. No no, this is for the Actually Short Friends, i.e. the Barely Scraping 5'1" and shorter Short Friends.

Youtube

This semester I started my journey as a member of my University's Alumni Outreach Team. This means a lot of things, but primarily it means that I get to make phone calls to parents and alumni two nights a week to update contact information, collect things like business cards and volunteer hours, and even ask for money.
