The end of Thanksgiving means one thing and one thing only: Christmastime! Normally it takes a bit for me to get into the holiday spirit but right now, I am full blast Christmas 24/7! It only took me a few years to figure out how to get into the holiday spirit but I think I've cracked the code!

1. Go to a tree lighting.

Doesn't need to be as fancy as the one in Rockefeller but I bet your local park or town will have one!

2. Listen to Christmas music at full blast.

*insert lyrics to Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You"*

3. Go to a mall during the holiday season.

This picture is from the King of Prussia Mall which I went to this past fall (it is HUGE). But no matter the size of the mall, it will always have holiday decorations! Just try not to get stuck in stampedes of shoppers!

4. Write a letter to Santa.

You're never too young! My local mall has a mailbox for Santa and I always stick a letter in for good 'ol Saint Nick!

5. Watch the 25 Days of Christmas.

I'm extremely excited because during the nights this term I don't have as much to do. That means lots of Christmas movies come December!

6. Put up your Christmas tree.

Even go out and buy some Christmas ornaments to make the tree your own!

7. Get presents for friends and family.

While I do enjoy getting presents myself, nothing beats watching friends and family open presents you got them!

8. Play in the snow (if there is any!).

While I am not crazy about snow, one of my favorite childhood memories is playing outside on snow days and coming back inside to hot chocolate made by my mom!

9. Bake holiday treats.

If you're like me you'll buy the pre-made gingerbreads houses but hey, it's the thought that counts!

10. Travel to neighborhoods to see the lights.

The county I'm from is known for having quite a few neighborhoods that go all out for the holiday season!

Happy Holidays!

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
