Being on break is always a great feeling: finally we don't have to worry about homework, papers, tests, or attendance. Getting ready for a new semester isn't too enjoyable, especially because most of us just wish breaks could last longer. Thankfully there are ways to get back into the college mindset after a long break. Here are some tips to prepare for those of us who don't feel ready to go back-to-school.

1. Start thinking about your classes. If you like to learn and find joy in exploring new topics or subjects, you should start thinking about the excitement that you will encounter after learning something new. Think about the possibility of finding something new that you like and actually being good in it. Think about the possibility of finding your calling in life.

2. Start preparing and ordering all of your textbook supplies and writing utensils. If you start stuffing your book-bag with pencils, pens, Post-It notes, index cards, and notebooks, you will start to feel ready to start the new semester. You will feel organized and ready to learn.

3. Set a goal in mind to do your absolute best throughout the entire school year. If you know you tend to feel stressed about lack of time to either study or do homework, make sure you schedule time to study or start your research paper, for instance, in advance. You should look at all of your syllabi and schedule every single assignment into your planner.

4. Plan some fun activities for the new school year. Every now and then, if you do something enjoyable, school will start to seem less exhausting than if you solely care about school. Remember to reward yourself with some fun so that you will not burnout from school.

5. Set a goal in mind to be as healthy as possible – both physically and mentally. Make sure you always give yourself time to eat and sleep. Always give yourself time to relieve stress, if you have any. Because school tends to take a heavy toll on one’s health, if you plan on being healthy, you will start college with the right mindset.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about.
