The Law of Attraction

You know how some days you just wake up in a bad mood, and then the rest of the day continually gets worse and worse as your mood gets more and more sour. There’s a reason for those sorts of days, and there is a way to change them. The Law of Attraction, to put it simply, is the idea that life will return whatever kind of energy you put out. It’s basically a fancier version of karma in the sense that you get what you give, except law of attraction focuses on energy. This means that we are responsible for every positive or negative influence in our lives, weather we realize it or not. It revolves around the idea that everything is connected to this greater power- what some people call the universe, others call source energy, and what it is most popularly known as- God. But the law of attraction, like most things, only becomes a religious matter if you turn it into one.
The voodoo-esque science behind the theory is that everything and everyone vibrates at a certain frequency. Things vibrating at similar frequencies are attracted to one another, i.e. positive vibes attract other positive vibes. These positive vibes don’t just mean being happier overall- but I mean who’s complaining about that?- it also means that the universe will give you the things that you ask for. For example, if you focus hard all week on getting a promotion and have a high frequency, you’re much more likely to get the promotion. Of course you’ll still have to do the work to get there, the universe isn’t a wish granting factory, but none-the-less you’ll still be promoted. So waking up unhappy and immediately deciding that your day will be crap means that the world will send you negative vibes until you change your attitude.
So how does one manifest these positive vibes? Mastering the law of attraction isn’t as easy as simply slapping on a fake smile; there are a few things you should do to raise your frequency and bring forth the good vibes. First, meditation. If you're one of those people who believe that meditation is a load of mumbo-jumbo nonsense, then you should seriously reconsider. Meditating strengthens and relaxes the mind, and even five minutes a day can seriously change the way you go about life. Another important part of attracting the kind of energy you want in your life is gratitude. Being consciously grateful for everything you have, even if it isn’t much, can make such a difference in your happiness. The last thing that can help you manifest good energy and take advantage of the law of attraction is trust. Trusting the universe to give you the things you need, not just what you want. With these life changes in mind, after a while you’ll be vibrating at a higher frequency and start being able to achieve more of the things that you’ve always wanted.

It's officially December. There is less than a month of 2024, and I still feel like yesterday was summer. Now comes the merriest time of the year, the Christmas season.

Everyone has been waiting for this time of year since mid-October (which is way too early, in my opinion) or before. It's a time of love, family, memory-making, and gift-giving. A lot of times when I ask friends and family what they want, I get a lot of "I don't know" or "I don't care."

I was sitting at my cubicle, now that I am an adult, looking at the rain pouring down on the windowsill, bumming on life, wishing for the rain to just stop for a full day.

There are moments where we count down the hours until work is over and how many more days till the weekend, and this many weeks until something exciting. Or something like that? Well, I was bumming because my next day off from work is not until Memorial Day weekend, which is not until the end of May. And since this is my first year out of college being a “real person,” I am totally missing the winter, spring and summer breaks. I am sure all of us have felt this way even if just for a hot minute…
