Warning: the following content will most likely be Saturday Night Live approved, and Kanye West disapproved. It seems as though the once influential rapper (in my eyes) Kanye West has been "team Donald Trump" ever since the orange-skinned Jabba the Hutt wanted to run for president. I'm not criticizing West for being a Republican and being so besotted with Trump because it is everyone's humanly right (assuming that West is human) to think how they want to and to believe in whatever they want. However, I am a little confused with West's current political views since in 2005 he claimed that former president George W. Bush didn't care about black people.
According to People.com, while visiting Trump at the White House, West brought up what he said about Bush in 2005 and stated," I was very emotional and I was programmed to think from a victimized mentality. Of a welfare mentality." First, I would like to point out that he uses the word 'programmed' which leads me to believe he may not actually be human. Second, it's hard for me to take this seriously. I can't help but think this is an ingenious way for West to get attention. The more outrageous Trump-related things he does, the more publicity he will get which gets him closer to immortality since people will always remember his antics even when he is dead.
Even if West absolutely loves Trump and will be his advocate, there has to be more to his media outbursts and Trump rants. Just how a toddler would randomly start screaming for attention, here is how to get attention the Kanye way.
Constantly wear a Make America Great Again red baseball cap. You will get so much attention if you wear this pro-Trump accessory wherever you go. According to West, no place is too liberal for him not to wear this hat. To receive more public reactions that will probably be negative, make sure to take many selfies of yourself with the hat on and post them to various online media platforms.
Rant about Trump during your Saturday Night Live performance. One of the smartest things West has thought of was using his SNL performance time at the end of the show to give a speech that glorified Trump and condemn all of the people who have made negative comments about him for being Trump's number one lackey. I'm sure this annoyed some of the cast and crew members; especially the ones who just wanted to go home. But sacrificing their time was worth it. His plan went so perfectly, that he even got a few boos from some of the audience members. Immediately after, people everywhere were talking about it.
Visit Trump at the White House. A great way to get the press in the same room as you is to visit Trump at the White House and have lunch with him. That's exactly what West did. To make people want to talk more about the conversation, make sure to discuss your crazy theologies and beliefs, and to also bad mouth democratic liberals. West did such a great job of doing this that Saturday Night Live couldn't pass up doing their opening skit about it.
So there you go. Those are the few ways to get attention the way Kanye West does it. People may hate you for it, but at least you'll have your name in the media.
