How To Find Happiness In April

School wise, April is a very stressful month. Luckily there are some things to help cushion the blow.

April is a bittersweet month. On one hand, we're all excited and anxious to be finished the semester, be free of exams and homework, see our pets, friends, families, and everything else we love about being home.

Unfortunately however, April also means crunch time. Teachers use this time to schedule all of the last minute papers that they possibly can. This is also the time that they like to cram in last minute exams before the final exam. All of the projects and tests in the world seem to pile up at once crerating a mountain of work and stress. All of this stress just leads straight into final exams like a head on collision.

Since there seems like there's never an opportunity to catch a break, the whole month may seem like it'll never end. It's understandable why so many people are stressed out, but there also so many great things about April to focus on.

1. Nice weather:

Even though the first week proved otherwise, sunny, beautiful weather is finally here. No more coats, no more budling up in a thousand layers, and no more shivering in misery. Also, taking a walk or playing a game outside with your friends can be a nice study break. Even if it's just for half an hour a day, getting outside and enjoying the fresh air can help turn you're stressed out mood around, even if only slightly. Even if you don't think you have time to break away from studying, take it outside. Studying in the fresh air feels a lot better than being stuck studying inside your room.

2. Dogs:

My personal favorite thing about nicer weather is the fact that people begin taking their dogs out on walks again. It's a nice change to get to see dogs on campus on a daily basis. Sometimes you even get lucky and they let you pet them, and you make a new furry friend. Nothing better on a stressful day, or any day at all really, than doggy kisses and petting sessions.

3. Adventuring:

The nice weather also brings out people's sense of adventure, or at least gives them the chance to finally act on the one they've had to suppress all winter. It's nice enough to finally revisit your favorite river spot, go hiking, or even just go explore around town. The break from studying will do you good, and you'll create more great memories with your friends until you all go your separate ways for three months.

These are just some of the perks that April has to offer. It can be a rough month, but believe it or not there is a bright side. Keep studying hard, but don't forget to take some time, no matter how little, out of your day and relax before you overload yourself. Stay dedicated, but have some fun. Summer will be here soon.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Everybody gets sick once in a while, but getting sick while in college is the absolute worst. You're away from home and your mom who can take care of you and all you really want to do is just be in your own bed. Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
