I am a person who needs her alone time. Isolation has been my own personal haven where I can clear my head and my introverted side can thrive! However, I also love getting out and being a social butterfly.

If you are like me, you know how hard it is to get out of the house at times. Here are a couple of quick tips and tricks I use to ignore my introverted thoughts.

Try making commitments in advance. I find that when I am in a mood to socialize, I go ahead and make plans for later that week. This way I will hold true to my plans to not let my friends down and I have time to mentally prepare myself to go out!

Make sure you have relaxing nights to yourself. It as just as important to have nights to yourself as it is to have nights out. Self care is so very important. Balance is key!

Have someone keep you in check. Sometimes it is hard to change your impulses by yourself. Get an accountability partner to keep you balanced.

Don't over do it. When starting something new it can be easy to give it your all in just a short amount of time. This is not a good idea because you will then start associating those positive actions with negative thoughts.

When alone, do things you love to do! Make sure you are taking advantage of your alone time by partaking in your favorite hobbies. If I have some free alone time I make sure to meditate and play my ukulele.

Just remember that moderation is very important. Never overdo a situation or more than you are comfortable with.

If you decided you really need a night in, have a night in! No one is forcing you to be social. However, this is a healthy thing in life.

Hopefully this helped all my fellow introverts!

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
