How To End The School Year The Right Way

As another school year comes to an end, it seems as though everyone is scrambling last minute to get those final things in that they wish they did during the year. Whether it be trying a restaurant you really wanted to try, going out somewhere new, or spending time with people you have not seen a lot during the year, everyone seems to be frantic in getting those last minute goals done. Here are some things you can do to end your school year in the best way possible.

1. Finish your classes off strong.

You have been working so hard all year, and it is worth it to finish off stronger than ever. There is nothing worse than having regrets with your grades, so give yourself the satisfaction that you put in the best effort that you possibly could.

2. Make an effort to see friends that you will not see for awhile.

Although summer means seeing all your great home friends, it can be sad to leave your friends from college who might not live in the same state as you. Make sure you get to say goodbye to the friends you might not be seeing until the fall, and enjoy your time spent with them until then.

3. Try something new.

Maybe it's the restaurant that you've been wanting to try all year, or studying in the place you've been wondering about all year. Try whatever things you have been curious about.

4. Clean your room and donate.

You would be amazed by how many things can be hidden or overlooked in a dorm room throughout the year. You most likely have a lot of books, supplies, or clothes that you no longer have a need for. Use this as an opportunity to get organized, and donate whatever you don't need. Your room gets cleaner, moving out will be easier, and someone else will be grateful for it.

5. Set goals for next year.

A lot can change in a school year, and you definitely can learn a lot about yourself. Take the end of the year as an opportunity to reflect and grow. Did you have anything you wish you could do better? Things you want to work on? Make a mental note of this for the next school year, whether it be study strategies, time management, or just general goals.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
