This fall weather got me like:
After the recent heat wave Michigan experienced, I think it is safe to say that we are all welcoming this fall weather with open arms. The sweaters and leggings are finally being broken out, and the auburn leaves are falling. To make this transition into the colder weather easier, here are a few ways to live the fall lifestyle the right way.
1. Cider Mills: 10/10 would recommend, must do, fall classic
For many out-of-staters, cider mills may be a foreign concept. Growing up in Michigan, a cider mill is as common as pumpkin patches and hayrides. This is an absolute must in the fall season. No one can understand the pure joy of a cider mill until you have sat at the festive picnic table and tasted the cinnamon sugar donuts and crisp apple cider. For the chillier days, you can order hot apple cider. Drinking hot apple cider on a fifty degree day surrounded by haystacks and pumpkins is the equivalent of sipping hot chocolate while watching the snow drift outside of your window on Christmas. It is one of those classic seasonal moments.
2. Play in the leaves: leaves are like snowflakes, but for fall
You may be thinking "this is for children" but let me prove you wrong. Go outside, and make a snow angel with the colorful leaves in your lawn and TELL ME you are not enjoying yourself. Make a pile of leaves, take festive pictures in them, or just admire their beauty. No matter how you enjoy the fall leaves, just enjoy them.
3. Hayrides: sit back and enjoy the smell of hay
This is another one of those classic fall activities that is a must if you want to say you fully embraced fall. Whether its a haunted hayride or just a leisure ride through the cider mill, this is always a fun way to sit back and admire the beauty of fall.
4. Pumpkin carving: what even are Halloween decorations without pumpkins??
Pumpkin carving is always a win-win situation. You carve a pumpkin, create a cute decoration for your house, and you get to eat the seeds (if that's your thing). Carved pumpkins is a must for halloween decorating, and a fun way to play with your food.
5. Haunted Houses: proving you're not a wimp, or that you are
If you like scary movies, then you'll love haunted houses. Walking through some of the most infamous haunted houses in Michigan can be like walking through your personal scary movie. An easy way to seek thrills without actually risking your life.
6. Halloween Preparation: so many costumes, so little time
Halloween is one of the biggest holidays of the year at University of Michigan. But really, Halloween lasts a week on campus. This calls for a lot of preparation. I used to get stressed out with only one Halloween costume, now I have to worry about five to seven days of costumes?? Send help.
