5 Simple Ways To Make Your Living Space A Little More Joyful

This past year has been a bit stressful on all of us. Being stuck at home isn't always the best. Being in the same house all day can be super draining. It can cause us to not enjoy the four walls we're surrounded by each day. During such a tumultuous time, it's important that we try to make the best out of it. Designing a better environment for yourself is an effective way to lighten up your life and create a more positive well-being. These small and big changes can really change your home's vibe and are all worth the try!

1. Play some tunes.

If you're anything like me, music is one the best ways to lighten up the mood. Having some music play throughout the house or just in your own room can enchant your mind. Investing in a speaker or even a record player for your home is the perfect added touch.

2. Get cozy.

Lately, one of my favorite things have just been getting comfy. Wear cozy clothes, pull out a blanket and drape it on your sofa, get some cute pillows, light your favorite candles, pull out some books, or make tea or coffee. The idea is to keep yourself feeling soft, comfortable, and warm.

3. Add a pop of color.

Adding some color to your home can create more of a feel-good vibe. This can be achieved with a colorful rug, a bright bouquet of flowers, or even a fun piece of wall art. It can change the way the room looks and is a good way to add your own personal touch. A colorful spectrum indicates colorful energy.

4. Display artwork.

This one kind of goes with adding color to your home. Displaying artwork throughout your home allows you show some creativity. Whether you buy it or make it yourself, putting up some paintings cab lighten up the room.

5. Deep clean.

Nothing is more de-stressing than a clean home. Cleaning your living space is one of the most effective ways to bring more joy into your home. I know cleaning isn't the most enjoyable thing, but the rewarding feeling after is so worth it. After a nice deep clean, you will bring forth fresh energy and clarity.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
