With the start of a new year comes endless opportunities to think about the future and what you want yours to look like. Beyond thinking about the future, you can also work towards the future to ultimately lead the life you want to lead. Having a vision board to put as the wallpaper of your phone or computer, or even to print out and hang on your wall can help remind you of all the great that is yet to come. Here are some tips on how to create the vision board that's right for you.

Start with your aesthetic(s)

Choose colors, images and patterns that make you happy and that you identify with. You don't have to limit yourself to one aesthetic either: if you want both sparkly Y2K vibes but also flowery cottagecore vibes, you can tie them together with common colors and patterns. Just like in life, you don't have to limit yourself to one aesthetic or state of mind.

Gather images of your shorter-term goals

Whether it's graduating college, maintaining a healthier lifestyle or finding more time to appreciate the little things in life, include images that represent these goals. (Tip: if the image doesn't fit the aesthetic, apply filters on apps like VSCO or Adobe LightRoom to match the colors and vibes.)

Gather images of your longer-term goals

The possibilities are endless with long-term goals. They also don't have to be definite! You have time, and you will figure things out. Here are some questions to think about when thinking of your long-term goals.

Where do you want to live?

Where do you want to travel?

What do you want your career to look like?

What are some awards you want to work towards winning?

How are you going to bring these dreams to life?

Add quotes and words you live by

Integrating meaningful quotes into your vision board can help you manifest these dreams into reality. Include quotes from people you look up to, positive affirmations or words that comfort you in times of hardship.

Lastly, remember what makes you special, and integrate that into your board

In the end, this board is supposed to represent you and your dreams, so remembering who you are will help you manifest who you want to be.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
