I have to start this article off with a little bit of a back story. My boyfriend and I had been watching "Breaking Bad" together for a while but I slowly started to get ahead of him. For those of you who have not seen the series, I will go ahead and let you know that the fifth and final season is jam-packed with action and suspense. Needless to say that I finished all of the episodes within a week of beginning the final season while my boyfriend was stuck back on season four. This is where I decided to be a little bit cruel and I asked him to wait an entire week in between the most suspenseful episodes (just like what he would have had to do if he weren't watching it on Netflix) and these were his responses.
"No. No. I'm not doing it. No." "What?! Why?!" "Nikki, you've got to be kidding me." "This is seriously not cool, why are you doing this to me?"
I'll admit that what I did was pretty not cool. But let's be real here, how many shows do you know of that have left you completely hanging? "The Walking Dead" just had an incredible cliffhanger where the fate of one of the series' most beloved characters hangs in the balance. In "Pretty Little Liars," practically every other episode left one with a heavy dose of confusion, anger, and suspense.
So how in the world are we supposed to deal with this? Speaking on my own behalf, I go after the writers. I get angry at them for what? Creating such a good show? Pulling me into the story? Right. That's their job and if they weren't so dang good at their professions, the series' that we all know and love would definitely not be as good as they are today.
The next time you're in the midst of an awful, terrible, no-good cliffhanger, take a step back, heck, make yourself some herbal tea, and take a breath. Ultimately you're going to love the show no matter what happens. So cherish the feeling of being in suspense and know that the show you're watching is the best for leaving you hanging. Patience is key here, and you've got to try to bide your time right. Maybe try some puzzles to pass the time. The cliffhanger is worth it and you'll be thankful when next week rolls around and you finally have the answers you've been craving.
