What's worse than having a birthday during this whole COVID-19 pandemic? Well, aside from the major economic crisis, massive un-employment, and people dying from a virus we know nothing about… NOTHING is worse than missing out on your yearly birthday celebrations. Especially, if this year you were turning a special age, say the big 2-1 for example. Us March and April babies need some love too. I just celebrated my 22nd birthday on March 24th and instead of being sad about how my day would pan out, I made the most of it. Now I'm here to share my ultimate guide to spending/celebrating a birthday in quarantine.
Sleep in and don't set an alarm!
Start your day off right! Let your body wake itself up naturally with all the birthday adrenaline cooped up inside.
Shower and get yourself ready as if you were going out.
Feel good and look better! Wash your face, do your makeup, do your hair, and love the reflection you see in the mirror. You've survived another year and thats a big accomplishment, don't let anyone tell you different.
Make yourself a coffee and turn on your favorite music.
A little solo-dance party never hurt anybody right?
Bake yourself a b-day cake!
And if you have others quarantining with you, get everyone in on the action! Have fun with it, eat the raw batter, lick the icing off the spoon, and set it aside to enjoy for later.
Plan a FaceTime birthday celebration!
My friends and I got on the app Zoom and face-timed away all night. Drinking, telling stories, listening to music, making each other laugh. But most importantly, enjoying each others company, even if it is virtually, making the most of the situation.
Indulge, indulge, indulge!
Now is not the time and your quarantine birthday is not the day, to count calories, restrict yourself, etc. Listen to your body and treat yourself the way that makes you happy... no regrets!
Last but not least... Reflect!
Use this time to think back on all the birthdays you have had. Go back and find old photos, think about whose been by your side consistently throughout your life celebrations. Enjoy the relationships you have with others and look forward to a better tomorrow.
