I'm not a big political person, but it stuns me to see Donald Trump succeeding in the polls. For months I thought that the Trump popularity was just another fad that would die out over time. However, it is time to take Donald Trump seriously. Something about him appeals to people, and the rest of the Republican candidates can't figure it out. I don't see Trump as unbeatable; there is a way to beat him. The Republican candidates need to get down and dirty with him, stoop to his level, and start making fun of him. Growing up our parents always told us never to try to take on a bully by stooping to their level, but it's time for the Republican candidates to grow a spine.
For months, Donald Trump picked apart Jeb Bush like a schoolyard bully picks on the teachers pet. Insulting him every chance he got, Trump bullied his way to popularity. Now that Jeb has dropped out he's turned his insults to Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio. Trump began his attack on Rubio by calling him a "robot" for the way he constantly repeats lines. Rubio, however, took the fight to Trump when he criticized the size of Trumps hands. He said, "You know what they say about a man with small hands...." Now it is not the most ruthless of insults, but it is just enough to plant the seed in Trumps mind. Kind of rattle the cage, and throw Trump off his game. What does Rubio have to lose at this point, Trump is gaining more and more popularity by the minute, and if you can't beat him join him. Make fun of his stupid hair, make fun of his failed marriages, make fun of his lack of political knowledge, make fun of his numerous failed businesses, there are plenty of things to insult Trump on. Get a laugh out of the people because that is what seems to be working for him.
The thing about Donald Trump is that he is not going to change who he is. He will always be a pompous, old dirtbag. The problem is being a pompous, old dirtbag is working for him. The one flaw that Trump has is his lack of political knowledge. He thinks you can simply just get rid of Isis just like that. The thing is you can't just get rid of terrorists. By using force, the United States will make even more enemies, and more terrorist groups will just spring up. So Republican candidates need to start picking apart the absurd policies. During debates if you criticize his policies he will just try to insult you, and then you just prove the lack of intelligence Trump truly has towards politics. It is time for the Republican candidates to stand up and fight back against Trump, because if they don't everything will stay the same, and Trump will be the Republican nominee and be that much closer to President of the United States.
