How To Be Your Own Hype Man While Applying For Work

Have you ever tried to apply for work but became discouraged due to a lack of job experience?

Don't you worry, dear reader, I too have faced such similar situations. Now that you're here, let me attempt to help you out by sharing my own personal experience.

As the title and photo so aptly put, I'm going to attempt to help you become your own Hype Man. A Hype Man is most commonly found in a rap battle scenario where he pumps up the rapper of his choosing and getting the crowd to react positively to the rapper he is backing and poorly to the opposing rapper. The Hype Man makes you feel good about yourself and gives you the confidence to CRUSH YOUR ENEMIES LIKE THE VERMIN THEY ARE win the rap battle. The most important thing to take away from this is that the Hype Man gives you confidence. You can get that job! You can CRUSH THE LORDS OF VALESTRIA IN GLORIOUS COMBAT, become financially stable (or at least buy cool stuff with your own money), and you don't need anyone other than yourself to give you the necessary confidence. To give a better example, here's a cover letter I recently used while hunting for jobs. Cover letters are used at the beginning of a resume, but, in cases where you don't have a resume, a well written cover letter may just save you yet. So, let's begin:

With the holiday season coming up, you are going to need workers who can effectively deal with the rush of shoppers looking to buy or fix their products efficiently and quickly. I believe that I am incredibly capable of handling such responsibilities.

1. BOOM. RIGHT THERE, YOU'VE ESTABLISHED YOU ARE INSTA-TANNED AND READY TO GO. But seriously, opening up the letter by letting your possible employer that you are capable and energetic for the job is a good start. Also, in the case of seasonal shopping, telling them you are capable of handling holiday shoppers (You're lying. Then again, so am I) is a little plus on your side. Let them know you're a beautiful, capable individual.

While I may not have the work experience background that some other applicants have, I do make up for it with my exceptional public speaking abilities and "How-may-I-help-you?" attitude. Due to having been a part of the theatre community since the 4th grade, I have not only learned to speak to/in front of others with confidence on my subject, I have learned to be able to appear energetic and ready to go despite whatever the day has thrown my way.

2. PUMP. YOUR. SELF. UP. Letting them know here that this will be your first job because they will wonder why your job experience section is blank, they won't guess it's your first job. But while this may be your first job, let them know that you do have qualifications that involve working with other humans. If you're an introvert looking to work in a field that involves human interaction, best learn to act right quick. That's what I had to do. And the last part is true in any situation; learning how to put your troubles aside to help others in need is one of the best qualities you can learn as a human. It shows that others can rely on you. Let them see you for the beautiful, capable individual that you are

I may not have the technical background other applicants may have, but I have been using Apple products for the last 10 years of my life. I have become so familiar with your products that if you put a new device in front of me, 15 minutes later I could be able to describe key features to customers with the knowledge and confidence of someone who has used it for months.

3. This is more a me thing cuz I'm pretty tech savvy. If you have a skill that relates to the field of work your applying to, let them know; it helps the hiring crew choose in your favor if they're hiring someone with who is very familiar with their products. Not only are you a beautiful, capable individual, but you are ALSO intelligent in your own right.

In conclusion, what I lack in traditional experience I believe I make up for in work ethic and the proper knowledge to get the job done and done to your standards. I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to work with and learn from you and your talented team. I look forward to speaking with you soon.

4. Sum up that you've been a bum so far (may God bless you), but remind them that experience is not all there is to look at. You are not defined by a jobless record. You are a beautiful, capable AND intelligent individual, and you can get this job. If you decide to use this guide, yay I'm happy. If you don't and get the job, still great! If you don't and remain jobless, maybe try my guide.

I wish you the best of luck, and may your December be filled with love and snow. If you don't like snow, don't even bother applying for any job. Employers deal with enough cold weather, they don't need your heart to drop the temperature even further.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
