How To Be A Vegan In Las Vegas

When you're headed to the city of sins as a vegan, the first thought that comes to mind might be, "well, I guess I'm having a margarita for dinner." If you have been to Vegas you know how glamorous some of the restaurants can be, and how trashy others are, but you don't expect any to have many vegan options. If you don't know your way around the Vegas area (not just the strip), you might not know all the hidden gems Las Vegas has to offer those with a vegan diet. Here is a guide for both your glamorous and trashy vegan friendly restaurants.

Tiabi Coffee & Waffle.

3961 Maryland Pkwy or 6320 Simmons St. Suite 135 (North Las Vegas).

When you think of a bacon substitute you might think of tempeh or seitan, but until you come to Tiabi and try their coconut bacon, there really isn't a better option. They top the "bacon" on their waffle items like the Vegan Viva Las Elvis, a vegan waffle topped with natural peanut butter, bananas, agave, and the coconut bacon. This fast and fun waffle bar is the perfect place for a Sunday morning brunch or a quick breakfast before work. More about the menu here.

Slice of Vegas.

3930 Las Vegas Blvd South.

Located on Las Vegas Boulevard, this pizza joint brings a veggie pizza to a whole new level. Shredded carrots and celery topped on a buffalo "chicken" pizza? Yes, please. Check out their vegan menu here.

Pizza Company.

2275 E Sunset Rd.

A small pizza joint, right off the Las Vegas airport runway, for when you need a break from the strip. There vegan garlic knots are the perfect starters before a vegan stromboli stuffed with Daiya mozzarella cheese, mushrooms, spinach, and onions with marinara sauce to dip on the side. Pizza Co. website here.

Viollette's Vegan Organic Eatery & Juice Bar.

8560 W Desert Inn Rd.

The menu items at Viollette's Vegan are full of emotion from their names to their taste. Start with some Sassy Wings made from seitan and tossed in a spicy barbecue sauce and a Viollette Club for a flavorful and satisfying entree. Menu here.

The Wynn.

3131 S Las Vegas Blvd.

The Wynn brought in vegan chef, Tall Ronnen, to craft unique and healthy food. Every one of their restaurants now offer a vegan and vegetarian menu designed like any of the signature items served. Read more about it on their site.

Red 8 at The Wynn.

For a more high-end Asian dinner, Red 8 offers a list of vegan Dim Sum along with other vegan options on the menu. Red 8 menu here.

Kung Fu Thai & Chinese Restaurant.

3505 S Valley View Blvd.

Kung Fu offers an array of tofu option entrees and noodle dishes that can be made vegan on request. Check out the vegetarian menu here.

Ronald's Donuts.

4600 Spring Mountain Rd.
When was the last time you enjoyed a Boston Cream donut? Ronald's Donuts has two shelves of vegan donuts that will make you forget about regular donuts. They open at four in the morning for your late night or early morning needs.

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
