How To Be The Best Babysitter, As Told By A Kid
Rachel Colassi

Babysitting is a hard job. You have to cook and clean, all while watching one or more kids. When doing all that, you must be having fun... at all times. The kids don't like it when it looks like you are unhappy with them.

The little girl I babysit, Julia, is the best kid I have ever watched. She is a fun-loving 10-year-old who loves dancing, singing, acting and playing basketball. She has decided to help me write this article to show babysitters how it should be done. When I asked her what the perfect babysitter is like, here is what she came up with.

1. They have to know how to cook... or else.

"My favorite food is spaghetti and meatballs, and cake and brownies."

2. Fun is a must. Fun ideas, fun games, everything has to be fun.

"I love to play basketball and play in the pool!"

3. They have to know how to drive.

"We like to go to parks, get ice cream and visit malls."

4. They must have fashion sense. They can't come to the house in sloppy clothing!

"Wear something pretty, but at the same time, comfortable."

5. Speak like a kid. You aren't our mom, you are the babysitter.

"Talk to me normally. I'm just a kid, but not your child."

6. No phones!

"Don't be on them a lot! We want to have fun with you, not your phone."

7. No naps, we aren't like, five or anything.

"Seriously."

8. We aren't your kids.

"Treat us like your friend, but don't let us go too crazy."

9. Pay attention to us!

"We are the apple of your eye. Treat us with respect!"

10. Be our best friend.

"Because Rachel is my best friend, and all babysitters out there should be a best friend to the kids."

Follow these tips to become the best babysitter ever!

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
