It's nothing like the movies.

"How to be Single," starring Rebel Wilson, Dakota Johnson and other strong female actors; explores the casual and chaotic world of single ladies trying, failing and avoiding the dating scene. This movie is nothing more than a comedic relief for the supposedly typical girl, who is supposedly afraid of commitment or has too high of standards to ever find "the one." So where does that leave the normal, single girls, who aren't giving their hearts and bodies away to someone they just met but also aren't studying their long list of "pros and cons" while waiting for the perfect husband to magically appear into our lives? Here are some practical ways for the normal girl to be single--and LOVE it.

1. Only keep awesome friends around.

You can't really be single and enjoy life to the fullest if you don't have awesome friends. Ditch those who aren't willing to spend time crying, laughing and eating way too much junk food with you. Keep in mind that you become like those you spend the most time with, so it's probably best to stay away from shallow, unreliable and dishonest friends. Plus, awesome friends can complain to each other about their singleness.

2. Get off those dating apps.

Give your finger a break from swiping right and left and start looking up. While dating apps aren't necessarily a terrible thing (some seem to be working) you are way too young to start using them. In fact, it just looks desperate if you are spending that much time trying to find the love of your life based off of nothing more than a few interests. Couples rarely meet on Tinder -- so don't expect to find your soulmate by simply swiping left.

3. Find adventure.

There is no time like the present to explore, without someone holding you back. Leave home, live in a new place and learn to love the great outdoors. Someday when you're not so single anymore, you're going to wish you had seen and done more. Now is the time to get out of your comfort zone and enjoy all that God has created.

4. Learn how to cook--well.

There is no time like the present to learn how to cook. Learning how to dice, chop, julienne and season things will help you well into your not-so-single years. Enjoy the preparation, hard work and delicious results of cooking. Plus, cooking doesn't have to be done alone--try hosting parties with all of your favorite friends. Your significant other will thank you someday for taking time while you are single to care about the food going into their stomaches.

5. Be patient and have fun.

While this may seem cliche, it's the truth. Good things take time, but in the process of waiting there is so much you can learn about yourself. Don't waste your time settling for mediocre, forgetting about your important non-negotiables. Life is way too short to spend it complaining about being single, instead embrace it and live life to the fullest.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
