Finals season is always challenging, but something about end of first semester is extra brutal-it's the Holiday Season, and there is so much to do, but you know you really need to stay in Bobst and cram from all four of your exams and finish those 2 papers and 3 presentations. Here are some ways to make it a little more manageable.

1. Listen to Christmas Music

Even though you have to work through the "most wonderful time of the year", you can still enjoy the holiday music that you might be embarrassed to listen to. Make a playlist, and keep it in the background when you are working. Note: if you have trouble working with music in the background, try instrumental versions.

2. Set a clear schedule

Instead of making just a vague to-do list, layout when, where, and for how long you will be doing something. The more specific you are, the better. If you want to go really crazy, specify what materials you need so you can be prepared to bring them with you to the library, or your favorite study spot.

3. Treat yourself

Set mini goals, where if you work on your paper draft for two hours, you can go get your favorite drink at Starbucks. Motivation is key.

4. Go to Bobst early on in the day

The earlier you start, the earlier you can get the sleep. Also, I personally just feel more motivated in the morning because the longer you procrastinate, the worse you feel. Even if you aren't a morning person, the adjustment can really alleviate you from a lot of stress.

5. Hit the gym

As crazy as it sounds, going to the gym can really help you with your motivation to do work and make you more alert. Don't overdo it, though...

6. Turn off all electronics when working

You don't realize how distracting technology is to your productiveness-even if it seems like you are just replying to that one Snapchat. Turning your phone off for an hour at a time can make an enormous difference in your academic career.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
