How To Be Funny

Seriously, I'm an expert.

How To Be Funny

On a scale from one to 10, how funny do you think you are? Three, four? Well, good thing you are reading this because after you will be a nine or 10. In this day and age, everyone needs to be funny. If you want a relationship, you need to be funny. If you want friends, you need to be funny. It has become a social norm in our society. Do not fret, I am here to help if you are humor-challenged.

If you are in an uptight situation, and everyone around you feels uncomfortable, it is time for a joke. Here is your time to shine. Always remember if you laugh, others will too. People follow people, no one wants to be the odd ball of the group and not laugh. And if they don’t laugh ask them “why are you not laughing, I’m funny." I’m pretty sure they will eventually laugh. Even if it is a nervous laugh, it still counts. Laugh at yourself, if you think you are funny, YOU ARE FUNNY! If people don’t laugh, tell them laughing makes you lose calories, everyone wants to lose calories. Even if you don’t mean to be funny, and you just happen to say something weird and people laugh, go with it! Make it seem like you meant it to be funny, no one will know.

In my opinion, if you are funny, you will have more friends. Everyone wants to be around someone who laughs and smiles all the time. Befriend that person who laughs at anything, it is such a confidence booster. Even if your joke sucks, they will laugh and it will make you feel invincible. Just don’t be that mean funny person, that is basically borderline bullying. Steer clear of that, lawsuits are not cool these days.

So what to say? Telling jokes all the time can get boring, so try and being unique with your humor. Change it up, it will keep everyone on their toes. Because you know everyone is at the edge of their seat waiting for your next joke, Not! Do something weird, randomly dance even if you’re bad, it will be even funnier, I promise. In order to be funny, you must be comfortable with yourself. Tell a cheesy joke, why is the mushroom a good friend? Because he is a FUNgi. People will laugh because it’s corny, not because it is a good joke, which is 100 percent okay.

Part of being funny is being sarcastic. Fortunately, I am an expert in this field. The most important rule is to be quick on your feet. No one thinks a joke is funny three minutes later, it sounds like you just realized the punchline. In an awkward situation, sarcasm is key. It will ease the tension. Let’s just say you are not very fond of a professor, and he harasses the class about current events, you can tell your friend my current event is going to happen during class after I punch him in the face. Make sure you are aware of who you are telling because they might think you are crazy. Also do not actually hit the professor, again lawsuits are still not cool.

After reading this, I congratulate you with a degree in humor. Keep practicing, and I promise, you will have a posse behind you laughing at everything you say.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.
