How To Avoid The Winter Blues In College
Winter can be a tuff time. The cloudy sky can be depressing and the cold weather can keep you locked in doors. This can easily lead to depression. Heres how to stay positive even while your freezing.

1. Enrichment

Sitting inside and watching Netflix may seem like the best plan when its snowy and gloomy inside but this can actually make you more tired and lethargic. Take advantage of what your school offers. Go to club meetings or get involved in a winter sport.

2. Stretch/Exercise

You don't even need to leave your dorm for this one. Use that weird hour you have between some of your classes, or just take a study break, and stretch. Try out a few yoga poses and maybe fit in a few squats and sit ups in. Or if your up to it, head to the gym. Exercise, even if its just 10 minutes of stretching can release endorphins, improve your immune system, give you energy, and improve overall health and happiness.

3. Be Social

Make time in your day to hang out with your friends. Whether thats having a one to one talk with your besty or laughing with a big group. Socializing is important for stress relief.

4. Call Home

Call your old high school friends, your parents, siblings, or grandparents. It can make you feel less isolated or stir crazy on those snowy days when you barely leave your dorm.

5. Get Off Campus

Go out to dinner with friends, visit town on a Saturday, go to a frat party, go see a movie, or do anything that changes your environment.

And if the winter blues get to serious, don't be afraid to visit your campuses health center and talk to a professional.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
