How To Keep Your Imagination As An Adult

Growing up is not something to dread, but something to embrace. Though you have to grow old physically it doesn't mean you have to lose the wonder of life.

It is the reality of becoming older that either excites or terrifies many ages. Growing and changing is something we all experience unless you are immortal which would be pretty cool. One big moment that is experienced is becoming an "adult". I put quotes around adult because being an adult is different for everyone, but the concept is usually the same. You are officially able to take care of yourself and provide for yourself without the need of a parent or guardian. At this point many people decide to take a step back from the whims of the simple things that they may have loved as a kid. I know it is immature to think of enjoying old cartoons or even old animated movies, but those who haven't let go of their love for these things aren't immature for loving them still they are holding on to the last of their imagination. I have realized it makes me happier to watch that Disney movie or to even enjoy comics I still own. It is the little things and here are some ways you can hold on to that same happiness. Here are some steps that you can do to reanimate the kid in you!

Find something that you loved when you were younger:

Whether it be sliding down a waterslide or having a Disney movie marathon, because who doesn't love a good movie marathon? Maybe even eat a tub of ice cream. Do something that makes you wacky and silly! Go out and be weird!

Do it with friends:

Doing activities with friends are always better than being alone. Find an activity that everyone wants to do like going to a theme park or waterpark or even having a retro game night. As long as everyone is having a good time! Let the nostalgia flow! Watch old nicktoons like Hey! Arnold or Ed, Edd, and Eddy!

Go to a Con:

If you haven't been to a con it is a gathering of people who love the same things as you whether it be superheroes or even knitting! Yes that is a thing. For those of you who have been to one will know how amazing it is to be around people who are into the same things you are. If you ever get a chance to go to one it is totally worth it! Plus you can dress up like your favorite character!

Remember to have fun and do what you love:

The most important thing to do is to have fun with whatever you end up doing! Let the ideas and spontaneity flow! It is okay to be crazy and go to Disney on a whim! It is okay to play Pokemon Go with a group of people! Just get out there! If you are happy with being goofy and out of the ordinary it will make you a more interesting person.

All-in-all, getting older doesn't mean you have to lose that spice and spontaneity for life. Watch and love anything that makes you smile or laugh. It is what makes life wonderful!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
