Beginning this piece, I had to do some serious research. I myself pride myself on being the least prepared for adulthood. I have no idea how to do basic things that adults should know how to do. For example, balancing a checkbook. Or let's be real, owning a checkbook. So I complied this list of things that make you a well established adult on my scale. Tasks, and responsibilities that every respectable adult should know how to do, or something like that.

1. Pay your bills

Pay your car, student loans, rent, utilities, and all the other things that make our credit look good

2. Cry and complain about paying bills

This is particularly done right after paying said bills

3. Look busy while at work/school, even if you don't know what you are doing.

Just fake it til you make it

4. Make some friends and throw a dinner party

I just feel like throwing a dinner party is an adult thing

5. Hold a job

Try not to lose your mind in the process of working with idiots from 9-5

6. Own a pet and take care of it

Teach it to do cool things too, because real adults have time for that

7. Have time for a cool hobby

Do something cool so you have things to talk about at those dinner parties

8. Don't get stupid drunk, because that is not acceptable after college

For some reason, real adults aren't allowed to be sloppy anymore

9. Go to the gym, and care about your health

Apparently that's a thing

7. Get married, have kids, and a white picket fence

Essential to "having it together" is the American Dream, or what is left of it.

8. Make your bed, and have adult "decor"

When your house looks like it came out of Pinterest, you've made it

9. Dry clean clothing, or better yet, own dry clean only clothing

Now you have events to wear this swanky stuff too.

10. Invest in stock

I think adults know where their money goes and, things like that.

11. Date someone who actually wants a future with you

These people exist right?

12. Understand politics and actually vote

We don't buy into these... just like how we don't buy our friends.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
