Now that you're in college its time to grow up, especially around this time of year. It's finally the holidays which means it's time to deal with repulsive questions from your favorite family members, the family member who you only see once a year and it gets more awkward every year, and lastly, the family member whom you always get into a fight with because they never know when to stop.

Also, it's the time that you actually have to start spending your own money on your siblings and your parents. Which can also be more rewarding because you used your earned money for something for your family. One question that is terribly common at this time is "what do I get for my parents?". This question comes with a million thoughts, as for how do I give back so little when they do so much for me.

How to deal with family one way is to ignore them. Although it can be hard because it's your family and they love you dearly but, why put yourself through the cycle of getting annoyed when you can just say a simple response and move on with your life. Another way to "adult" when it comes to family is to try to start a conversation with something that can't lead to something you could be asked back. For example, ask "what are you doing at your job/ what projects are you working on" or if they live out of state ask them what it's like living in another state and traveling for the holidays because since they're at your house they cannot ask you the same.

Finally, a way to adult with presents is simple. Try to pay attention to the little details that your mom/dad talk about. For example, if your dad loves watching football and he LOVES the Cleveland Browns, then try to incorporate that into your gift. However for your mom, when they get tired of Jewlrey, try to figure out what else they like. For example, if your mom talks about scrapbooking then go to Michael's and let loose, get her either a starter kit or something that could help her out. I know it's hard because they're your parents but they will honestly love anything that you get them because one, they're your parents they have to love it and two, it's from you.

Try to enjoy the holidays!

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
