Oh Valentine's Day, or as many people like to call it Forever Alone Day or Single-Awareness Day.

Can we just stop with that? Valentine's Day isn't just a day for people to buy Hallmark cards and chocolates for their significant others. Valentine's Day is to celebrate love in the many forms it comes in. It's to celebrate our families and friends and the wonderful relationships we have built with them. So with that in mind, here are a few ways we can celebrate Valentine's Day.

1. Write cards to your friends

Remember that time in Elementary school whenever we would get those small cards from Walmart and give them to our classmates? Well, cards are still important, and they're great personal ways we can tell people how we love them without spending too much money. Especially if they're hand-written.

2. Gather Your Friends

Plan a day where you and your friends can just order Chinese takeout and watch all your favorite chick-flicks together. The relaxation and the company will take the pressure off of you freaking out that you don't have a significant other to celebrate Valentine's Day.

3. If you have one, celebrate with your significant other

Make them feel cherished and loved. Take them to their favorite restaurant and order their favorite food. Buy them chocolates. Tell them that you love them and appreciate them and also make sure you tell them that all the time. Valentine's Day isn't the only day out of they year to celebrate love; we must make a conscious effort to do that every day.

4. Make others feel special

Pay another person a compliment and put others before yourself. Let your love be evident to all. Let gentleness and kindness rule so that you can put others before yourselves. Go ahead and bring some flowers to the nursing home or visit kids in an orphanage just to play with them and love the people who can't give you anything back.

5. Go at it alone

Some days we just need time to ourselves. While everyone else may be going out and having a splendid time, it's okay to just do something for yourself. Relax, let yourself breathe and treat yourself for once. Stay home, watch some TV and order your favorite food. Every now and then we do need a little time for ourselves to recuperate from a rough week.

6. Remember that Jesus is love

If you think about it, Valentine's Day is to celebrate love, and Jesus is love, so we should be celebrating Jesus. Let us rest in His work and sit at His feet and let Him teach us about love and what it is.

In case you're unaware, "resting bitch face" is the term used to describe when a person's natural, expressionless face makes it look like they are mad at the world. Whether they are walking down the street or simply spacing out thinking about what to eat for dinner, it's very easy for others to assume that this person is either upset or mad at them. Because of this, those of us with Resting Bitch Face (RBF), and especially us women, have all experienced many of the same situations and conversations, including:

We've all had a crush before. Whether it leads to something or nothing, the process has all been the same. The awkward feelings, the stalking, and the stress of trying to keep this huge secret. The feeling of becoming a total spazz is something that cannot be avoided, and the most spazzy family that can relate to this feeling is the Belcher's.

At the tender age of 18, we are bestowed with the title of “adult.” For 17 years, we live under the rules and guidelines of our parents, school, and government, and to stray from any of those rules or guidelines marks us as a rebel. At 18, though, we must choose which college we want to go to or what career we want. We are allowed and encouraged to vote. We can buy lottery tickets and cigarettes. We can drop out of school, leave our household, and do other "adult" things. At 18, we start down a path of thinking for ourselves, when for the entirety of our lives other institutions have been mandated to think and do for us.

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.
