“Why is your skin so clear?”

“Do you ever get pimples?”

“Why does your makeup look so nice?”

These are just a few of the questions that people ask me about my skin and makeup. Everyone wants to have smooth skin with no blemishes. Everyone also wants to have their makeup look airbrushed like Kylie Jenner. The reason that I have good skin is because I take care of my skin, and buy the right products to keep my skin looking glowy and clear. The secret to having an amazing face of makeup is clear skin. What goes on top will not look good if what is on the bottom is not smooth. Of course, one will say that it is just genetics, but genetics can’t prevent you from breaking out either. If you do not take care of your skin, it will act out. Therefore, I have some tips and products to help anyone with any type of skin try to achieve the ultimate smooth face.

General tips for EVERYONE:

1. Drink more water.

You have probably heard this before, and probably do not care for this tip, but honestly, this is a huge factor for achieving smooth skin. Since I started to drink water more often, I have noticed that I only break out once a month for that time of the month. Make this a habit. Not only is it good for your skin, but for your overall health. Instead of ordering a lemonade, just ask for a cup of water. The best part is that it is free too. Save your three dollars for some glowy skin. It is worth it. What makes you happy in the moment, will not make you happy in the long run.

2. Wash your face twice a day.

This makes a huge difference. Wash your face once in the morning and once before you sleep. Wash your face with warm/hot water, so you can open up all of your pores. If you really want to pamper yourself, take a clean towel and soak it in hot water. Ring it out, and place the towel on your face. You will honestly feel like you are at a spa. This is also the best way to open up those pores. To add to that, wash your face with the right face wash. By “right face wash” I mean the right face wash for your type of skin. The type of skin you have makes a difference. If you have sensitive skin, do not you harsh products.

3. Use a face mask, at least once a week.

Face masks will hydrate your skin and make it feel softer than ever. I will go more into detail about some DIY face masks in the next section.

4. ALWAYS REMOVE YOUR MAKEUP

Do not sleep with makeup. Ever. This is the worst thing you can do to your skin. No matter how tired you are, you have to remove it. I always make myself remove my makeup, even if I am half dead. Makeup is going to clog your pores, add dirt, oil, and chemicals into your skin. Also save yourself from dirty pillow cases and sheets, please.

5. Use a toner

Toner will remove any excess dirt that the face wash did not remove. Toner also balances the PH levels of your skin.

6. ALWAYS MOISTURIZE

Moisturizing is the key to soft and healthy skin. Even if you have oily skin, you have to properly moisturize. Find an oil-free moisturizer if your skin is oily.

Key products for all skin types:

I have a list of three products that work for all skin types. These products are also affordable. All these products are for sensitive skin. Using aggressive products will damage your skin rather than help it. Using products that are gentle will help the skin clear and it won’t be tough on the skin.

Face wash: No7 Foaming Cleanser

This face wash is gentle, so it helps remove any oil or dirt from skin. It says it is for normal to oily skin, however, I find that it works well with dry skin. I use this in the morning after waking up, and before I go to bed. You can find this at Ulta Beauty or at Target. It is also affordable.

Toner: Lush Tea Tree Toner

I love this toner because it is sprayable. It contains Tea tree oil, which is great for removing blemishes. It is also an all natural product. You can find this toner at any Lush store, or on their website.

DIY Face mask:

For my face mask, I like to make it at home which is cost effective and all natural. I use a turmeric face mask. Turmeric is a spice, often used in my Indian household. You can get a hold of turmeric in any spice section. Turmeric is a bright yellow powder, and it is often used in Indian cooking. This spice has a massive range of health benefits, ranging from cancer treatment to bright skin. Just google the health benefits of turmeric and you will be amazed. Turmeric is amazing to get glowing skin. It also helps remove acne and acne scars. It will help with any discoloration in the skin. This mask also includes honey and yogurt or olive oil. These products will help hydrate the skin. Honey is also a great antibacterial, which will remove any bacteria, and help any cuts or even your acne. Gram flour is great for brightening the skin. This will also help you achieve that glow.

In a small bowl, combine :

-2 teaspoons of turmeric

-2 teaspoons of gram flour,

-1 teaspoon of honey

-2 tablespoons of regular yogurt or olive oil.

Mix these ingredients till you get a paste. Remember this is DIY. You can add or subtract ingredients to your desire. If it turns out more dry, add more yogurt or oil.

Moisturizer: Egyptian Magic All Purpose Cream or Ponds Dry Skin Cream

If you want an affordable product, buy the Ponds Dry Skin Cream. I have been using this my entire life, and I still love it. It hydrates the skin so well, and you can find it anywhere.

If you are willing to splurge a little, buy the Egyptian Magic All Purpose Cream. I fell in love with this moisturizer right away. It is a bit on the pricey side, I bought it for about $25 at Target. It is expensive, but it is all natural and it has helped my skin so much. It has bees pollen and wax which is great for radiating the skin. The name of the product speaks for itself.

Follow all these steps and use these products, and your skin will improve in no time. Patience is also a major key. Skin does not clear overnight, unfortunately. However, following all these steps and using these products can help improve the health of your skin. Trust me, your highlight will glow if your skin glows.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.
