How This Election Really Makes Me Feel

I hate this election. I know many people are thinking about it, but I can't talk around it anymore.

I don't feel good about either candidate. I even tried to like a third party candidate, but that was even worse.

The truth is, I'm an idealist who misses Bernie. I didn't realize I was a "Bernie or Bust" fan until last week. I was even close to missing the absentee ballot on its due date as an act of self sabotage.

I am voting for the lesser of two evils, but I'm not happy about it. Last time I voted I was thrilled to make a contribution in history. This feeling is totally different.

I want it to all be over, so I can have my social media back to stupid memes and animal videos. This might sound naive, but this year I am hesitant and tired. However, as much as I want it to be over, it's not a phase. This election is our future.

So, please...

Vote for your values, for your children's future and for a progressive nation.

My birthday has never been my favorite holiday. I've found that I'm more excited to celebrate my friends' and family members' birthdays more than my own. I don't like being the center of attention, so I usually celebrate over dinner with a small group of family and friends. This way, I can enjoy myself naturally without feeling like I have to entertain everyone and make sure they are satisfied. In the past when I've had large parties, I was so nervous that people weren't perfectly content that I didn't enjoy myself at my own celebration.
